So here in the States, Thanksgiving is coming right up which means four days of stuffing our faces in celebration of what can best be described as genocide. But I like to concentrate on the stuffing of the face with family part of the holiday. However, I would like to point out that the whole Native American killing thing should really be blamed on the Spanish (discovering the new world) and the French and English (colonizing) Probably mostly the English and Spanish though because as I understand it the French got along with the Natives pretty well. Luckily, Jinsuk Kim (see comments) and his fellow South Koreans can rest easy knowing they had absolutely nothing to do with that whole ordeal.
Bottom line is, if I'm lucky I'll have some time tomorrow to troubleshoot this. Otherwise, I'm going to be pretty busy through the end of the holiday so not much will probably be happening here until the beginning of next week.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous number 2, I find it difficult not to blame the Spanish for discovering the new world because, well, it was them that did it. 1492 I believe, excellent year. Anyway my good sir (or sir-ess), point well taken. I'll stick to the mods and let those college professor types battle out the final word on human history.
However, I do feel I need to mention that at no point anywhere on this blog do I guarantee political correctness. Readers be warned...
I'm not saying you should be PC, but is this really the forum to talk about stuff like that? What #2 was saying is that the one thing everybody that visits your blog has in common is that we have a genuine interest in how this mod goes.
ReplyDeleteThe whole idea of blaming some nation for discovering the Americas is ridiculous. Are they to blame for 9/11 too then? Since it was they that discovered the continent, allowing hundreds of years of civilization, culminating in the construction of the World Trade Center and subsequent destruction by terrorists? Is that your argument too? See how ridiculous it sounds?
I'm not Spanish, not even close, and I don't know #2, but to trivialize the events on the Native American people, sounds to me like you were attempting a joke, calling it a "thing", like it was just some other daily event, like it had no repercussions on the lives of millions then and still to this day.
Again, you are certainly free to say whatever you want, just like I am, this great nation allows it, but stick to the things you know before writing something like that, talking about a subject that few people are qualified to discuss, and that should not be taken lightly.

I really do apologize if I offended anybody. My comments weren't aimed towards anybody or nationality. I was only pointing out the irony of the situation and did mean for the whole thing to be something of a joke. (apparently it wasn't a very good one)

ReplyDeleteAbout your monitor: The first big strike against it is that its a square 17" LCD where as the iMac G4 has a widescreen 17" model. If what your going for is a touchscreen, I'm not sure how possible that is. That's because you'd need to add yet another cable for the touchscreen the neck. There's also not a whole lot of room behind the LCD for the touchscreen controller. A little internet surfing and I found a company called TrollTouch who advertise they can put a touchscreen in a 17" and 20" iMac G5 so you might call them and ask if they are able to do G4s.

Aside from that, there's no point in paying extra for features such as the waterproof case because (the way I've done the mod anyway) you just strip all that away anyway. Hope this helps.
